"

Kuya Salamat talaga ah..."

                       -- Joana, Jonalyn, Francis
(Street Children)

Partying and Gimmicks at clubs. Night-Outs. Happy-hours and Laugh-trip.
That's the most precious and most fun to do with our barkadas. We spend all our money to buy drinks, liquors, pulutan just to have fun during gimmicks. We spend our money for shopping MANY clothes that we don't NEED.

While on a Friday night party, have you ever wonder that there are people just on the street craving for food? There are kids out there starving cause they haven't eaten the whole day.

Let me share you my story. Last night, Friday, the 10th of August, My sister and I went to PADI'S POINT to have some party and watch the Winston Concert featuring SANDWICH. She met her friends there and we had a fun dancing and laughing but in the middle of the concert. I just want to have a TIME FOR PEACE cause I have a fight with someone last night. I went outside to find a coffee shop. Good thing STARBUCKS is just a couple of steps from PADI'S.

I chilled for a few minutes but I found myself sleepy that time so I intend to go back at PADI'S where my sister is. On my way back, I saw two kids, one girl and one boy, each holding a bundle of sampaguita. They were seated on a gutter beside the parked truck. I passed by them but they didn't ask for my money or they didn't ask me to buy sampaguita. They just ignored me but I know they know I was passing. The moment I passed infront of them, I heard the small boy, he said, "Gutom na gutom na gutom na ko...". At the moment those words are entering my ears, I already had my steps back towards them.

"Gutom na kayo?", I nervously approached them. "O-po", the little girl said like a young student speaking syllable by syllable.

"Tara, gusto niyo ng tapsi?". Me acting like "Pappi, Wowowee"

We walked for a couple of minutes to reach a famous Tapsilogan while on that place they had this friend which is few years older than they are.

"Ku-ya, a-ko din", The young girl said. "Cge, sama ka lang."

I ordered 3 tapsilog for them. While they were eating, I asked them what's their name.

Joana, 10 yrs old. (but looks like 7 or 8)
Francis, 11 yrs old. (looks like 8)
Jonalyn, 14 yrs old. (looks like 12)

Then I asked them what do they want to be if they are older, Joana wants to be a singer, so I said, "Sample nga!" then without any doubt she sang infront of me.

"Ang awiting ito'y para sayo at kung maubos ang tinig di magsisisi.... Dahil iyong narinig mula sa labi ko... SALAMAT", Joana.

Na-touch ako. ='( I almost cried but I hid it.

They are thin, dirty, malnourished kids. My pity-meter is going high. Awang-awa ako sa kanila. While they are eating, they keep on saying

"KUYA, SALAMAT TALAGA HA...."

I saw right into their eyes the joy of having a tapsilog for their morning snack.(12.30am) I just realized:

"AKO NAGPAPAKASAYA SA LOOB NG BAR, TAS TONG MGA BATANG TO NAGHIHINAGPIS MAKAHANAP LANG NG PAGKAIN DITO SA LABAS."

So.. To all of you guys. I think it's time to make a change. I think you should not only think about your personal happiness or yourselves. It's time to burst forth and touch other's lives.

"Sa simpleng TAPSILOG lang, nakita ko sa mga mata nila ang tunay na halaga ng pasasalamat."
